About

I’m Marcie Sundaram and I’m a trans woman who records original compositions and cover songs and releases them on YouTube and a wide variety of streaming platforms. My music is inspired by my particular love of the Beatles and 1950s rock & roll, along with a wide variety of other musical genres including rock, pop, blues, jazz, reggae, folk, and classical. I’m a multi-instrumentalist and play guitar, bass, piano, drums, and more, and also sing and enjoy building up rich harmony vocals track-by-track. My compositions take a largely melodic approach, along with harmonic complexity and contrapuntal textures.

I started my YouTube channel Rockin’ Pneumonia as something to do during the COVID lockdown, recording some old 50s rock & roll songs just for fun in GarageBand on my iPad with a very basic setup. But more recently I’ve started posting my original songs there as well, and my originals can be found on all the major music streaming platforms as well as in the iTunes store.

My recent original composition Only Love

Playlist of newly composed original songs

Only Love is my attempt at a love anthem in the vein of 1960s songs such as The Beatles’ All You Need Is Love, and was originally written for the #Songtember song-in-a-month challenge on YouTube in 2024. You can find it on all the major streaming platforms through DistroKid.

I composed A Prayer For This World long ago but only recently recorded it.

When I was in my teens I wrote over 200 songs as I worked on learning the craft of songwriting. A Prayer For This World is one of those songs, which I have now recorded many years after its composition. It can be streamed on all the major platforms via DistroKid. This and other songs written in that era will be released on the upcoming album Throwback.
